Representing Inman this year at the National Geo-graphic State Bee State Championship will be Isa-belle Taft, Bhaskar Lokanathan, Quinn Mulholland, Olivia Volkert, Christopher Brown, Claire Hasson, Patrick Scol-lard, Sammi Dean, Sky Nielsen and Khalid Ransome.
Three Robotics teams represented Inman in the Mid-town Qualifier of the 2008 - 2009 FIRST Robotics competition. Veteran 8th graders, including Zach Cald-well, Rion Turner, Charlie Denton, Walker Bolch, Bhaskar Lokanathan, Will Staples, Kentavius Dumas, Patrick Scol-lard and Cooper Gluck, led each of these teams. Inman's teams had the 2nd, 7th and 10th highest scores of the day with one team receiving 1st Place in the Technical Presentation. At the Super Regional Qualifier, one team placed 1st for Technical Presentation and Ro-bot Design and advanced to state. This year marks the fourth consecutive year for Inman to advance to the Georgia FIRST Robotics State Finals.
Inman's 2008 MathCounts Team won Second Place and Danny Baggerman won Third Overall in the city-wide MathCounts competition. Members of Inman's team were: Danny Baggerman, Alex Guzman, Nicholas Johnson and Denis Mezencez. Danny Baggerman qualified as a State Finalist.
Inman students Holden Choi and Julia Rapoport were the top winners in the Novice Division at the 2008 Ando-ver Dartmouth Math Competition. Other members of Inman's Andover Dartmouth Math Team included Camille Harris and Sean Kleber.
Inman's Debate Team continues its winning tradition in tournaments this year. The awards are too numerous to list in this publication.
In the 2008 African-American Sankoka Challenge, Inman's 7th grade team won First Place. Members of the team were: Daniel Blues, Julia Hayes, Preston Pettigrew, Bilal Vaughn and Alecis Wahlberg.
Inman's 2008 Band received an Excellent Rating in the GMEA District V Large Group Performance.
At the 2008 GMEA District V Large Group Evalua-tion, Inman's Orchestra received a Superior Rating in Performance and Sight Reading. Receiving Superior Ratings for the GMEA District V Solo and Ensemble were Samantha Dean and Grace Power. Inman's Chorus received Excellent and Superior Ratings in the APS Large Group Performance.
Selected Inman 7th graders again tested as part of Duke's Talent Identification Program. While their scores are not in, last year Lucy Bradley, Troy Kleber and Isabelle Taft scored in the top 2% and were recognized in the Grand Ceremony at Duke University. Scoring in the top 30% last year were fourteen Inman students, Konadu Amoakuh, Lucy Bradley, Christopher Carson, Samantha Dean, Samuel Holder, Troy Kleber, Joseph Lavine, Caitlin Lochridge, Bhaskar Lokanathan, Kennedy Steele, Isabelle Taft, Sam To-maka, Bilal Vaughn and Patrick Wise.
Inman had many finalists in the city-wide 2008 Academic Fair. Inman's winning teams included seven 7th grade teams in the Math Competition and two 8th grade teams in the Science Competition.
Inman's Gold Key winners in the 2008 APS Science Fair Competition were Mona Adams, Anna Bing, Walker Bolch, Rachel Citron, Samantha Dean, Jameson Hollis, Jacquelyn James, Lucy Leonard, Valentina Makrides, Audrey Miller, Rex Peterson, Will Staples, Carson Shadwell and Isabelle Taft. These students participated in the Gold Key Run-offs at the state competition.
Inman students who advanced to the 2008 State of Georgia Science and Engineering Fair were Anna Bing, Rachel Citrin, Jameson Hollis, Lucy Leonard, Audrey Miller and Rex Peterson.
Inman's 6th graders, Kai Perkuchin and Jerre Valliere were 2008 Social Studies Fair winners who qualified for regional competition.
6th grader, Mary Kate Vian, represented Inman at the 2008 APS Spelling Bee.
8th grader, Aja Blair was a National Finalist in the 2008 ¡§Do the Write Thing Essay Contest.¡¨
Inman students named as 2008 Inspirational Messages of Peace winners were DyShondra Walton, Callie Hendrix and Kai Perkuchin.
Anna Bing and Olivia Holladay participated in the 2008 GMEA District V All-State Orchestra.
Anna Bing was selected for the 2008 All-District Band, All-State Band and All-State Orchestra.
Participating in the 2008 APS All-City Youth Orches-tra were Inman musicians Katy Wong and Cooper Gluck.
Inman musicians participating in the 2008 Metropolitan Youth Symphony were Anna Bing, Olivia Holladay and Adam Schatz.
Inman's 2008 Junior Beta Club's Quiz Bowl Team, Taylor Allen, Kenny Cochran, Paige Curtis, Vivien Feria, Shaun Kleber and Julia Rapoport, placed Fifth at the State Convention. 8th grader, Madeline Girardot, placed Third in the Science Academic Competition at the State Convention.
Inman's Student Government Association is helping to implement the APS-sponsored Recycling Program at Inman this year.
