School History

Hemphill School was built in 1927. The school was re- named after the Margaret Kennedy Fain who was a community activist residing in the Adamsville Community in 1940. Due to a fire, the school was rebuilt in the early 1990’s and was renovated in 2009. Margaret Fain has been opened longer than any other elementary school in the Adamsville Community. It is a 60 year old anchor of the Adamsville neighborhood in Southwest Atlanta.
