Program for Exceptional Children (PEC)

December 9, 2011 Dear Parent, Welcome to another year at Kimberly Elementary School. I am so excited to be here and to have the opportunity to work with you and your student this year! My goals this year are to continue to challenge your child to work hard every day, to build them up with successful experiences and to encourage them to do their best daily in order to be successful in school. Every day in my class your child we will be expected to work hard, obey class rules and get along well with others. Your child will continue to work on their Individualized Education Program’s goals/objectives and will continue to receive specialized educational services in reading, language arts and math. Your child needs to come to class rested, prepared and ready to learn. Your child is also required to read at least for 20 minutes every day – no exceptions! Reading is the key to all academic success. There will be some homework this year, as well as, studying and reviewing sight words and spelling words nightly. Each student is expected to complete all their assignments and turn them in when they are due. Individual student assessments will also be done throughout the year to evaluate and measure progress. I hope that this information will be helpful to you and to your child to indicate progress and growth, as well as, areas that still need improvement. I look forward to and greatly appreciate our continual relationship. In order for success to happen it takes all of us to work as a team. I am available to you before school at 7:30am and after school on Monday’s, Thursdays and Friday’s at 2:30pm or by an appointment. Please contact me at 404-802-7600 or email me at dkerscher@atlanta.k12.ga.us. Sincerely, Ms. Kerscher, IRR Teacher |
