Advanced Placement
 (*AP)

From the moment you enter an AP classroom, you'll notice the difference—in the teacher's approach to the subject, in the attitude of your classmates, in the way you start to think. In AP classrooms, the focus is not on memorizing facts and figures. Instead you'll engage in intense discussions, solve problems collaboratively, and learn to write clearly and persuasively.

It is important to note that Mays gives students opportunities to select AP courses.  It is our endeavor to give our students “OPEN ACCESS” to experiences that foster the college going culture.  Mays High School was awarded the AP Grant in 2009.  This gives us funding for additional resources such as materials and training so we can provide equal access to rigorous academic coursework.  As a result, our students will have more opportunities as they select their post secondary options.
