Thanks to the diligent efforts of a mad scientist and co-chairs Becky Fite, Golfo Vastakis, and Stephanie Marinac (above), with the help of dozens of parent volunteers, this year’s Scholastic Book Fair was a smashing success!  With the theme “The Story Laboratory,” the fair provided students and their families with an amazing variety of new books, classics, and posters to choose from. All of Morningside’s students had the opportunity to browse, select, and purchase their favorite picture books, chapter books, and more during the week-long event. In addition, all of Morningside’s faculty and staff created “wish lists” of titles of their classroom needs to be purchased as gifts from grateful Morningside families. This year’s fair netted a record $12,000 in Scholastic credits! Among other things, this windfall will be used to provide sets of nonfiction leveled readers for classroom libraries to satisfy requirements of the new GA Common Core Standards in English and Language Arts. Thanks to all who contributed to the success of this annual fund-raising endeavor!
