Mrs. Tonia Gatlin has been teaching for nine years for Atlanta Public Schools. She began her teaching career as a Language Arts teacher for sixth and seventh grades.  Mrs. Gatlin graduated summa cum laude from Mercer University with a Master of Education degree. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Education degree in Instructional Leadership. Her certification areas are Middle Grades Language Arts and Social Studies, Early Childhood Education (K-5), and Reading (P-12). Her second language experience is Spanish.

During her teaching career, Mrs. Gatlin has served as the Grade Level Chair, Leadership Team Member, Data Team Member, a Mentor Teacher for student teachers from several universities, and the Ambassador Teacher for Success for All.  She brings a variety of excellent qualities to her profession: the ability to be a team player, work collaboratively with her team, strong organizational skills, and excellent communication skills.

“It is my belief that all students should receive a quality education regardless of their social or financial status. I believe that all children enjoy learning.  It is my belief that my role as a teacher is to encourage all students to learn and make it fun for them.”
