Trujillo’s students everyTuesday 7:20 -8:15am. Text:“Avancemos” A & B ($60 cost to replace book). These books will be used ONLY in class. Course Description: Thecourse is designed to introduce the student to foreign language learning.Instruction focuses on comprehensible, written and spoken Spanish. Students will also be exposed to thegeography and cultures of the Spanish-speaking world which is increasinglyimportant to the global community. Objectives: v Studentswill be able to understand all forms of greetings in Spanish and will be ableto use them. v Count1-1,000.000 v Knowthe colors v Understandthe concept of gender in Spanish grammar, masculine and feminine v Expresslikes and dislikes v Studentswill have a basic vocabulary covering many action words, body, food, clothing,family, locations in the neighborhood and describing words. They will alsolearn verbs such as: ser/estar, tener, ir, regular verbs ending in –ar,-er and–ir. The students will also beintroduced to irregular stem-changing verbs and direct object pronouns. v Studentswill be able to change action words depending on who is doing the action ( I,he/she/we) v Studentswill be exposed to common weather conditions, know the days of the week,months, seasons and be able to tell time. v Studentswill be able to map the Spanish-speaking countries and know their names andcapitals. Parental Involvement: Youcan greatly assist with the student coming to class prepared and organized. Youcan help your child review for a test, quiz or project, who knows, you mightlearn some Spanish on the way!! J Acknowledgement of detention, discipline notices and latework will be appreciated. Assignmentswill be posted daily at the school website. Please make sure you check thiswebsite daily for assignments. Composition notebook (will be used daily asnote taking tool, grammar and other pertinent information). 3. Spanish-English dictionary and pens, pencils,erasers, line paper Grading criteria: v 30%CLASSWORK/PARTICIPATION v 25%TESTS v 10%QUIZZES v 25%PROJECTS v 10%HOMEWORK Grading scale for theAtlanta Public School System: v 90-100 A v 80-89 B v 70-79 C v 69& below F *Aneffective and successful class must be based on four essential aspects:RESPECT, HONESTY, EFFORT, and DISCIPLINE (RHED). Discipline is a must for the sake of theinstruction and that of yourself and your classmates: You are a young adult andshould behave as one. *Tardiness and Readiness: Being on time – and that means SEATED whenthe bell rings – is of the utmost importance. When you are late, you disruptthe class and miss instruction. You will have one freebie, after that, EVERYUNEXCUSED TARDY will result in ONE DETENTION to be served. Please be ready EVERY day for class: bringyou Spanish binder and notebook, Avancemos Spanish workbook, pencil and linepaper. *Homework: There will be homework every single day,either a WRITTEN or a STUDY assignment. If home learning is not done on the duedate, the student will have a chance to turn in LATE HOMEWORK for 50% whichwill be averaged with tests, quizzes, class participation, and other grades todetermine the final grade. *Allpapers must be legible, written in blue or black ink, and headed in thefollowing manner (in the upper right-hand corner): ** If the student’s name isNOT on the paper, student will receive 5pts.
